This mounding Shrub is very similar to Carefree Delight as it comes from the same breeding line but has better disease resistance, better growth habit, and improved bloom power. Carefree Spirit’s bright, non-fading, cherry red 2 ½” blossoms have a white eye and are produced in showy clusters in flushes during the blooming season. She is a 2009 AARS Winner and was selected as a Plant of Distinction in the 2014 UGA trials.

I've had this rose for over 10 years. I gave 1 to my mom as well. Both have been blooming machines, usually one of the first ones to start blooming in my 6a zone with nonstop blooms. I keep it at around 3.5' and give it a good pruning every spring down to about 1'. It opens new blooms continuously and is rarely without blooms. Not bothered by diseases and japanese beetle although occasional, but find my Raspberry bushes nearby much more appealing.
I purchased 3 of these as they were on sale and I liked the mounding bush like quality. All three bloomed profusely this first season. The bloom size is small which is to be expected for the first year. I anticipate these to be a real winner and show stopper when they reach full maturity. If you want a different type of rose this might be it for you.
I was a floribunda snob and tended to think of single petal roses as being "less than" in terms of beauty, but this changed my mind. I love the subtle color variations as the petals mature. A botanical work of art.
